Civil Enforcement Division, Civil Recovery SectionThe Civil Enforcement Division of the Oregon Department of Justice is seeking applicants for a permanent full-time Assistant Attorney General in its Civil Recovery Section. Civil Recovery Section AAGs may work remotely and in the office. This positionis Salem-based, with opportunities to also work in our Portland or Eugene offices.The selected candidate will be specifically responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and litigation services to the Division of Child Support. This includes, but is not limited to, researching and advising the agency on administrative and legal issues, representing the agency at hearings to establish, modify, and enforce child support orders, and prosecution of contempt of court.In addition, the selected candidate may have the opportunity to represent state agencies in a wide variety of other matters, including:Wildfire investigations and cost recovery.Contract disputes.Torts.Real property disputes.Injunctive relief.Overpayment recovery.Probate (including estates, conservatorships and guardianships).Questions regarding this position may be directed to Michael Grant, Attorney-in-Charge, Civil Recovery Section, at 503-934-4400.RequiredActive membership and in good standing with the Oregon State Bar by the time of appointment.At least five (5) years experience litigating cases in Oregon state courts.Superior analytical, advocacy, research, verbal communication, and writing skills.Strong work ethic.Client counseling skills.Collaborative work history with lawyers and non-lawyers.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and contributing to an inclusive working environment where diverse individual experiences and perspectives are valued and supported.Desired ExperienceExperience in child support or family law cases is preferred, but not required.Civil litigation experience.Experience with administrative law.Experience managing a high-volume caseload.Applicants most closely matching the requirements and needs of the position will be invited to interview.
