Job Summary:
The Radiation Oncology Treatment Department is seeking to add a PRN Radiation Therapist to the team!
This is an exciting opportunity to work for the #1 cancer center in the State of Tennessee! Our academic-focused radiation oncology center treats a wide-range of patients in terms of age, socio-economic status, and complexity of treatment. Our Nashville clinic currently uses five linear accelerators, two computed tomography scanners to treat over 100 patients a day; this includes patients from the adjacent Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital and the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The wide-variety of complex treatments at this clinic location includes stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy IMRT) and intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT). In addition to our clinical mission, VICC (Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center) is involved in 3 educational programs (radiation oncology residency, radiation therapy physics residency, and medical physics graduate programs). Combined, this three-pronged approach to radiation therapy provides each patient with state-of-the-art care while being involved with advanced treatment techniques and clinical trials.
The radiation therapist is an integral part of the team. This person is responsible for the accurate delivery of therapeutic radiation treatments to patients and simulations for patient treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist. The therapist must have a thorough understanding of the rationale for radiation therapy as well as skills in patient assessment and interpersonal communication.

Key Responsibilities:
Administers daily radiation therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit, accurately and efficiently, at a speed consistent with patient scheduling for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.
Participates in orientation and training of all new radiation therapists to include treatment unit-specific procedures and protocols, on call-procedures, simulation procedures and protocols and provides feedback in a timely manner to clinic director.
Performs computed tomography (CT) simulation procedures and clinical simulations according to established department protocols.

Current or pending ARRT Certification or eligible to obtain, required
