Performs functions with conscious regard to procedures while interacting professionally with other departments within the system. Must have extensive knowledge of all operational aspects of a Sterile Processing Department and be able to perform the following: identification, cleaning, inspection, testing, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments, operation of mechanical equipment used for cleaning and sterilization, working knowledge of all Regulatory and Infection Control policies and practices that govern CSPD, knowledge of ordering and inventory control, knowledge of Medical Terminology to identify Surgical procedures, ability to collect and analyze data and computer skills.Qualifications:Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and one to two years of previous work related experience. Certification required from a NJDOH recognized certification such as CSPDT / HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association). Completion and passing grade in an SPD training course or school is acceptable in lieu of one to two years job experience. Work requires math skill such as addition, subtraction, division, multiplication.
