We are looking for an experienced attorney and leader in employment law who is inspired by our purpose to “bring the potential of people, nature and technology together to make life better.” The Senior Counsel will report to and work closely with the VP & Associate General Counsel, US/Canada, Corporate & Commercial COE, and will partner with the Chief Human Resources Officer, serving on the global HR Leadership Team. The Senior Counsel will work regularly with members of the global Human Resources and GLBG teams, among other cross-functional and business partners.The Senior Counsel will develop and implement employment law strategy in the U.S. across all business segments including Corporate, as well as work and lead with the HR team in providing strategic, high-level and pragmatic legal advice and guidance on a wide range of human resources issues, including but not limited to, hiring, recruiting, discipline, termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, leave and disability accommodation, compliance, non-competition, labor grievances and arbitrations, policy development and compliance, and other employment related issues. Key to this role will be to identify and get ahead of potential issues, to assess and manage employment law risk, and offer practical, creative solutions to business partners. The primary remit of the role is U.S., Corporate, and Canada, but the successful candidate will provide thought leadership on global issues, as well as ensure that GLBG team members globally have appropriate capabilities.Core Responsibilities

This role will be a strategic thought leader and the go-to subject matter expert on employment law within the Company, the primary and trusted business partner contact for HR from the GLBG for global employment legal issues, and a member of and embedded in the HR Corporate leadership team. The Senior Counsel will:Be responsible for the investigation and resolution of employment-related claims, EEOC matters, disputes and investigations, providing legal and strategic leadership and partnership with HR and the business.Develop relationships and collaborate as a strategic partner with labor/industrial relations staff of HR in developing policies and practices on labor issues, including defending arbitrations, grievances, discipline, etc., but will not be responsible for or handle labor agreement negotiations.Monitor compliance with new U.S. federal, state and local labor and employment laws, such as ADA, FMLA, pay equity, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Be aware of trends in global employment and labor, including building relationships and networks with external employment counsel in key jurisdictions.Develop and implement employment law training and counsel to members of the HR and business teams, as well as for the GLBG.Develop policies, best practices, guidelines, tools and programs that align with and advance the GLBG’s Mission of advancing the Company’s strategy and protecting the Company.Address legal matters in a proactive manner to achieve optimum results for the Company, including managing budgets with outside counsel.Develop and maintain strong and trusting working relationships with business and HR partners, GLBG colleagues, as well as external counsel.Qualified Candidates Will Have

Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.Active bar membership in good standing.Minimum of eight years of legal experience dedicated to employment law.Demonstrated experience in handling complex employment issues while proactively providing practical advice to achieve business solutions, with evident strategic thinking ability and learning agility.Solid problem solving skills with a proactive and pragmatic approach; willingness to roll-up sleeves with strong follow-up skills and detail orientation.Experience in U.S. labor law preferred.Familiarity with Canadian labor and employment law, a plus, but not required.Outstanding advocacy, presentation, oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to build relationships and positively influence outcomes.Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously to closure.Highly motivated, proactive, self-disciplined and team-oriented; effective and clear oral and written communication skills as well as ability to work with various levels of staff.Positive, can-do hands-on attitude with good influencing and stakeholder management skills.Good judgment and high integrity, with demonstrated appreciation of general business values and ethics.Ingredion provides accommodations to job applicants with disabilities throughout the hiring process.
