IT Security Project Manager

TalEx is working with a media services organization to identify a Project Manager for a contract role in Los Angeles, CA.
The IT Security Project Manager will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing the team to achieve a high level of performance and quality in delivery. The PM will be responsible for managing several concurrent high-visibility IT Security projects using agile methods in a fast-paced environment that may cross multiple business divisions. The APM may play a number of different roles in actual practice:
Leading and managing large, complex projects possibly spanning multiple teams and/or requiring integration with other activities outside the scope of the IT Security organization
At a team level, playing a lead role to put in place the appropriate process and tools for success and coaching members of the team as needed to optimize our efficiency
In situations that require a hybrid Agile approach, using good judgment and skill to develop a process that is suitable for planning and managing the effort to achieve the project or program goals and timeline
In performing these roles, the APM will be expected to use a high level of knowledge and experience in blending traditional project management principles and practices with an Agile approach as needed. We desire someone who can determine the appropriate level of planning to provide the right balance of agility and predictability Essential Job Requirements:
Project Planning and Management
Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value
Organize and lead stand-ups
Prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks, dependencies and issues
Correct and/or report deviations from plans and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
Manage customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance that doesn’t overwhelm the team with process
Provide regular status updates to Sr. Leadership
Team Management
Holding teams accountable for their commitments
Remove roadblocks to their work
Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
Qualifications:
Solid understanding of common security concepts (IDS, Authentication, Defense in Depth, PCI, ISO 27001)
Expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management practices with the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
A proven track record of successfully implementing security projects using Agile methodologies in a high-tech development environment with multi-functional teams
Balanced business/technical background - Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to compliance, network and engineering teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues
Skills Required:
BA or BS or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus
At least 3-5 years experience with at least 1-2 years spent managing IT Security projects
Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and leading by influencing
Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels including the executive level
Experience using Jira (desired, not required)
Experience using SmartSheet (desired, not required)
