Azure Data Engineer

SC&H is currently searching for an experienced Azure Data Engineer to join and help grow our Data Solutions and Analytics consulting practice located in Ellicott City, MD. SC&H Group is national management consulting and CPA firm. As a part of our team you will help empower our clients to leverage modern-data solutions to create automation, efficiency and improve decision utilizing modern data infrastructure to support a variety of business functions across the organization.Ultimately, the ideal candidate for this role has in-depth knowledge of the full life-cycle of designing data driven solutions, which includes assisting in requirements gathering, performing source data exploration, developing sophisticated data pipelines and analytic models, and experience building the supporting visualizations for business users.Work you'll do:Work in a team based environment to design and implement enterprise grade data solutions based on unique client needs, across a variety of industriesWork with Microsoft Azure data tools and technologies including Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, SQL Server, Synapse Analytics, Azure DevOps, and Key Vault.Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirementsActively engage with end users to understand data-intensive challenges and ensure development enables high performance movement, storage, aggregation, visualization and analytics over datasets from disparate sourcesConduct data exploration and analysis based on business requirements and translate to technical designsDesign and implement robust data pipelines for data transformation and movement.Collaborate with a Solution Architect to define client requirements and design modern data Lakehouse solutions.Extract, transform and load (ETL) structured and unstructured data into target systemsWork alongside solution architects to design/create complex data models that are used to drive decision makingQualification and Requirements:BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent fieldAbility to work from SC&H office location 2x per week (Ellicott City, MD) is preferred. Remote candidates will be considered but must be able to demonstrate experience working effectively on remote teams.2-3 years’ experience in data engineering with a focus on data exploration, analysis, pipeline design, and data transformation (preferably in Microsoft Azure Data Services)Experience designing and working in advanced data modeling, data architecture, and supporting BI platformsMust have good communication skills, both written and verbal with experience gathering functional requirements and translating into technical designMust be a team player (raises issues/concerns and seeks meaningful resolution)Ability to write complex SQL queries and utilize common data engineering languages such as Python, Scala, etc.Experience working in software engineering and big data is a plusExperience designing/building complex, customer facing visualizations and dashboards in Power BI or Tableau is a plusExperience working and modeling financial data sets and supporting source technologies (ERP/General Ledger systems, EPM/CPM systems such as Oracle OneStream) is a plusExcellent knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, SQL, etc.), complex SQL tuning, and data warehouse best practicesABOUT SC&HSC&H is a national consulting and financial services firm, home to people who believe in the power of trusted personal relationships.
