Purchasing Manager

Reports to: Corporate Purchasing ManagerOvertime status: ExemptSummary of PositionST Tissue located in Franklin, Virginia is looking for a purchasing manager. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of manufacturing purchasing experience and be able to perform procurement duties in a high paced environment while searching for better deals and more profitable suppliers. Salary is based upon experience and the job duties include, but are not limited to the following:Duties & ResponsibilitiesComparing costs, quality, reliability, and technical supportNegotiating purchase agreements to secure favorable termsDeveloping and maintaining inventory controls based on current market lead time and conditionsEnsuring compliance with procurement rules and regulationsPurchasing goods and services necessary for the company’s operationsEvaluating quality, price, and availabilityConduct market research to identify new suppliersDevelop an effective system for monitoring purchase ordersEnsure timely delivery of orders and report any back-ordered or missing productStrong organizational and communication skillsGood attention to detail and ensure all purchase orders are accurateVerifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to the master list and recommend alternativesManages purchases by forwarding orders to suppliers and monitoring and expediting as neededManage local purchasesResolve invoice disputes in a timely mannerSupport maintenance planningQualifications5+ years of manufacturing purchasing experienceAble to perform procurement duties in a high paced environment while searching for better deals and more profitable suppliersWork Environment/Physical DemandsThe work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
