Visit https://www.dignityhealth.org/socal/locations/glendalememorial for more information.Responsibilities:As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health youll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process focusing on the safety of the mother and baby with kindness and compassion.As a nurse in this department you will have varying roles and responsibilities. You may work in Obstetrics - triaging patients or perform screening exams on walk-ins or you may guide patients through a routine induction and delivery. Youre busy monitoring the mothers dilation progress while also keeping close watch on the babys fetal heart rate. You'll be coaching mom as the baby is delivered and providing updates and support to the patients partner and loved ones.To thrive in this role youll need to appreciate that routine is never routine. We have some wonderful days in this department and get to be with people through huge milestones in their lives. We also have some hard days and are with people as they grieve. You must be sensitive and understanding to different circumstances. Above all else you must remain calm in an emergency. A patients status can change quickly and its never good for the patient or family to see the nurse in a panic. Youre calm. Youre in control. Youre handling the situation.While youre busy impacting the healthcare industry well take care of you with benefits that include health/dental/vision FSA matching retirement plans paid vacation adoption assistance and more.ResponsibilitiesTriage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor water is broken false alarm etcSupport pregnant patients in labor including induction epidural assistance (if needed) general pain management and fetal monitoringAssist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections tubal ligation cerclage and emergency proceduresEducate patients on various interventions or procedures - medications (name and purpose) exams and labor stagesAssess newborn and provide care.Communicate with the care management team including anesthesiologist physician or midwife lactation nurse charge nurse postpartum unit patient and familyQualifications:6 Months acute care experience in labor and delivery.Minimum education as required for licensure.BSN Preferred. Moderate Sedation for all monitored areas preferredBasic Fetal Monitoring NRP ACLS BLS certifications required.Current California license as a Registered Nurse. Position is represented by CNA.Must Circulate C/SectionsMust float to Post Partum or NICU
