THE ROLE: This role will serve as the overall leader for Xylem’s Watermark and corporate social investment program, delivering on the goals for improving the social impact this program delivers on global water issues. The role will lead the expansion of programs designed for employees with the goal of improving the participation rate and number of hours volunteered. This role will also lead the expansion of programs serving other key stakeholders (customers, suppliers, partners, etc.) with the goal of increasing these opportunities more broadly across the Xylem ecosystem. In addition, it will play a vital role in the development of new commercial offerings that will serve base of the pyramid markets, by executing on voice of customer work and idea generation. With strong executive presence, astute relationship building skills and robust program management across a broad range of stakeholders, this role is critical in delivering on our vision as a company: Xylem will help create a world in which water issues are no longer a barrier to human health, prosperity and sustainable development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Lead and develop Xylem Watermark and other corporate social investment programs working with senior leadership to drive integration and accountability as a critical component of business success.

Create programs and value propositions for key stakeholders that are part of Xylem’s ecosystem (customers/suppliers/partners/etc.) to build value in our communities tied to water.

Measure and report on the company’s corporate social investment initiatives and activities; including measuring the number of participants and volunteer hours of key stakeholders (employees, customers, partners, etc), the amount of the donations raised by stakeholders, social value impact of projects and successful launch of new products serving base of the pyramid markets.

Execute voice of customer (VOC) for new offerings to serve the base of the pyramid.

Collaborate with the internal and external communication functions to create impactful messaging to influence and inspire others to participate and ensure broad-based support for the Watermark program.

Represent the company in select public forums to improve stakeholder relations and corporate reputation.

Operate across organizational boundaries driving the company’s corporate social investment programs, strategy and goal implementation with limited direct authority over business leaders who must be influenced.

Work with, communicate, influence and build consensus among other senior leadership across the company to advance Watermark & corporate social investment programs.

Regularly update governing board committee or senior steering committee on advancement of Watermark & corporate social investment goals.

Build trusting internal relationships as a central point of contact and expert in Watermark & corporate social investment decision-making.

Motivate and engage line level employees.

Build strong trusting relationships with key external stakeholders such as community groups and NGOs.

Build and maintain a healthy and cooperative network of peer counterparts in other organizations useful for gathering information and sharing ideas regarding corporate social investment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree; master degree preferred

5-8 years of water industry related experience

Experience building programs / offerings / value propositions for different segments of customers.

Previous international/global experience

Experience in crafting communications aimed at influencing individuals throughout all levels of a global company (C-Suite through individual contributors)

Experience dealing with complex and sensitive issues included under the corporate citizenship umbrella – globalization, sustainability, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and community involvement.
