Join CalRecycle to improve the lives of all Californians.Job Description And DutiesUnder the general direction of the Assistant Chief Counsel for the Division of Recycling, the Attorney III will prepare cases and advise and represent the Department in administration actions, including hearings, application reviews, and settlement negotiations. The Attorney III will act as liaison between the Department and the Attorney General's Office for civil and criminal proceedings. The Attorney III will be responsible for researching and analyzing state and federal case law, statutes, regulations and procedures associated with the Department's programs, especially the Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act and its regulations. The Attorney III will be expected to write briefs, Accusations, memoranda and correspondence on complex and difficult legal matters. The Attorney III will be expected to handle requests under the California Public Records Act. This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework.
