Top Secret/SCI with PolygraphJOB DESCRIPTIONAs a Database Engineer, this candidate will lead the design, implementation and testing of a complexdata infrastructure in support of our customer needs. This candidate will work with network, systems,and application engineers to manage the database engineering and administration of systems forcomplex and high-volume data processing infrastructure. They will use a variety of ingest methods anddata management techniques, which includes a variety of data types, database functionality, compliancestandards and availability requirements. This individual will work closely with the customer; projectmanagers; and engineers to facilitate communication to all stakeholders.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experienceAt least eight (8) years of related experience in database engineering and administration of systems for complex and high-volume data processing, using a variety of ingest methods and data management techniques
Management includes a variety of data types, database functionality, compliance standards and availability requirements
Minimum two (2) years’ experience designing, installing, administrating, upgrading, patching, and performance tuning Oracle databasesREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Demonstrated experience in the following:Performing all aspects in the lifecycle of database engineering and administration, including design to meet customer needs, install, deploy, data migration, maintenance, backup/recovery, patch, and upgradeDatabase security analysis and vulnerability remediation processOracle engineered systems such as Exadata, Big Data, MiniCluster or SuperClusterManaging database systems in conjunction with datastore systems in high availability, system redundancy environmentsCurrent and practical expertise using Oracle PL/SQL, SQL, SQL*Plus and SQL DeveloperExtensive experience in: database architecture, design, and processing models as well as extensive experience with data architecture, modeling, and management in a broad spectrum of data repository environments, such as data warehouse, on-line transaction processing and hybridDESIRED SKILLS
Experience with administration and configuration of database solutions for document and geospatial data/capabilitiesPrior experience supporting database systems for the Sponsor or the IC for CT missionPrior experience supporting database systems for data collections unique to the Sponsor or the ICExperience delivering or integrating solutions using RDBMS technologies and NoSQL technologiesExperience transitioning solutions from RDBMS technologies to NoSQL technologiesCompetence writing, changing, and understanding scripting in various languages such as Windows, Korn/Bash, Perl, PythonExperience transitioning into Cloud environmentKEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with cross-functional team of software engineers, data scientists, analysts, project managers and other engineers to support a high volume and complex data systemAssist with the design of network architectures based on customer data requirements and industry best practicesProvide recommendations on how best to support ongoing maintenance and enhancements of data systems and platformsDevelopment of unique solutions that will meet customer requirements and industry best practicesProvide recommendations for continuous improvementWrite and update technical documentation such as data system documentation
