We are adding to the team!
Currently, Hayward Unified School District has 13 School Nurses and we want to add two more School Nurses to the team.
Applicants must possess a valid California School Nurse Services Credential or a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the State of California with baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally-accredited college or university. Must possess BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Completed application form; a current resume including background information, education, experience and achievements; letter of introduction; copy of state certification (credentials); and two (2) recent letters of recommendation from supervisors describing your performance in previously held positions.

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesFunctions as a contributing member of the school staff.
Makes nursing diagnosis and establishes priorities for action based upon health appraisals which include but may not be limited to screening for hearing, visual acuity, scoliosis, and the inspection and interviewing of pupils who are referred by themselves, by the staff or by their parents.
Assists pupils, families, and staff in planning action for preventing, eliminating, minimizing, or accepting health problems through the process of individual and group health counseling.
Alerts staff concerning special health problems of pupils and makes recommendations relative to modification of the educational program for pupils if their health or developmental status make such adjustments desirable.
Maintains student cumulative health records.
Advises the local school regarding the health budget and the ordering of health supplies.
Works with teachers and parents in developing and implementing local and state guidelines and legislation for health education; serves as a resource person by securing health materials, by working with curriculum committees, and by giving group presentations.
Provides leadership and exercises judgment in the development of standards for disaster preparation and emergency care of accidents and illnesses and for reporting such emergency cases.
Promotes a safe and healthful school environment by directing a program toward the control of communicable disease and by reporting observable hazards to the proper authorities.
Provides leadership in interpreting the total school health program as liaison to the staff, to parents, and to the community.
Provides assistance in health career counseling.
Provides specialized information for the development and continuation of creative and innovative programs.
Provides supervised field experience for students in nursing and related programs.
Provides training, direction, and supervision of staff and volunteers working in school health problems.
Participates in professional organization and college programs designed to promote professional growth.Secondary (Adjunct) Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Full-time employees are required to purchase medical health benefits. Half-time and less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. Health benefit costs are 100% employee paid through a pre-tax payroll deduction. Employees may opt out of health coverage upon presentation of proof of alternate coverage.
Dental coverage is mandatory for all employees working 20 hours per week, or more, regardless of outside coverage. Less than half-time employees may participate on a voluntary basis. The District contributes the full premium for "employee only". Any additional premium will be employee paid.
