ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:
This position reports to the Director, Fiber Management and Telecom Services.This position is being sourced for Midstream Integrity Services (MIS).
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Communications Engineer will be managing network infrastructure technology in the energy industry. This position will be involved in project management and problem solving in a complex and enterprise environment.Carries out moderately complex information systems and/or information technology tasks within more than one discipline, such as server support, network support as well as telecommunications, and infrastructure administration, analysis, engineering, and design.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors and supports the information technology and systems infrastructures.Conducts complex analysis including planning, designing, and evaluating a variety of information technology tools.Manage, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the current network infrastructure including remote sites.Serves as the backup to respond to user requests for system needs and upgrades or handles requests that are more complex.Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems in an efficient manner with little to no supervision.Implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters.Administers, runs tests on, and maintains operating system and related software.Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and, when necessary, per recoveries.Performs root cause analysis, diagnostics, and monitoring on various production systems.Identifies opportunities for process improvements and works with team members to implement efficiencies.Effectively create and maintain relevant systems documentation and user guides.Apply scripting methodologies to automate IT Admin related tasks.Ability to read/interpret and create network diagrams, schematics, and documentation.All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.Minimum of 5 years of IT experience in Networking Enterprise Environments.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Familiarity in basic administration of Palo Alto firewalls.Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.Working knowledge of IPsec tunnels.Advanced knowledge of network infrastructure.Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude.Excellent communication skills.Familiarity with ITIL concepts.
