Senior Cost Manager – Data Center Construction (Anticipated Opening)

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced

Senior Cost Manager

to join our team. The Senior Cost Manager will be responsible for providing cost management services for one of our data center clients.Core Responsibilities:Desk review of monthly application for payment on an actual cost-plus basis. Verify all costs applied for are allowable per contract and supported by adequate substantiation / back-up prior to submission into client payment systems for pre-approval.Utilize client payment systems to review and approve selected contractor invoices.Provide monthly update to the portfolio dashboard on project data.Carry out change management support by evaluating and recommend approval, and/or rejection of cost of proposed change and tracking of change orders.Support the evaluation of contractor claims and provide recommendation to Senior Cost manager.Verify all project closeout documentation required, per contract, has been received and is acceptable for the client.Provide commercial recommendations relating to partial and full retention release, in accordance with contract requirements.Manage and maintain project dashboards using Power BI, and feed data into portfolio level dashboards.Lead project kick-off meetings with Contractors & other client vendors, walking them through process playbooks and setting expectations for all cost management processes at the outset.Be the main point of contact at project & campus level for both the Client & Contractors.Manage the workload to the wider project team & ensuring timely delivery.Provide QA on team members work, ensuring consistent, high standard of delivery across the project team.The candidate should have 8 years of relevant cost management experience.The candidate should at a minimum have a bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related construction degree, or equivalent years of transferable field experience.The candidate should have the following technical skills:A thorough knowledge of Cost Management methods and best practices.A thorough knowledge of forecasting, budgeting, planning, design, schedule and scope management.Have the technical skills to read, understand, and communicate contract requirements including construction drawings and specifications and interpret construction methods.Technology competent in using the following Software: MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.Have or be working towards a professional qualification i.e., RICS / AACE or similar certification.The candidate should have the following soft skills:Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with a diverse range of personalities across clients and partner organizations.Ability to engage and manage multiple stakeholders.Strong analytical and numerical skills and flexibility to rapidly understand complex problems and shape these into workable solutions for delivery.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to develop concise and effective written presentations and participate effectively in meetings with senior client representatives.Valued but not required:The candidate has experience working in the data or tech industry.Experience in using electronic Project Management tools.
