Description

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Estimator consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

1. Sales/Business DevelopmentMake follow-up calls on bids submitted.Represent KHS&S at industry, community and customer events.Understand all of KHS&S products/services in order to pitch a comprehensive bid package to meet the client's needs.2. Estimating

Prepare or assist in preparing estimates and proposals for conceptual projects.Complete assigned project estimates on established deadlines and priorities.Prepare accurate estimates of direct costs for assigned projects according to standard processes.Prepare clear and effective proposals for review by the Chief Estimator for assigned projects according to standard processes.Perform value engineering of new or alternate materials, means and methods of construction.Solicit and qualify proposals from suppliers and/or subcontractors; participate in the procurement process, as directed.Review specifications, instructions to bidders and addenda.Review construction schedule and trade requirements.Coordinate proposals with Construction Design team to ensure design requirements are captured.3. Operations

Participate in Job Kickoff Meeting; support Project Team as required thereafter.Provide technical and estimating assistance with Change Orders, as required.Participate in post mortem at project close-out.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Construction or other appropriate field of study or related work experience.

Experience:

Preferred 3 years' experience estimating interiors and exteriors in the construction industry (framing and drywall).

Skills:

Well developed analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to read and interpret drawings, including schematic and conceptual formats. Knowledge of construction materials, means and methods. Attention to detail.

Physical:

Includes sitting, standing, reaching, walking; use of hands, arms, legs, and feet. Must be able to see and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.

Communication:

Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate effectively and positively with customers, vendors, and employees.

Computer:

Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with Bluebeam, Quickbid and OST software preferred.
