The

Assistant General Counsel - Labor & Employment and Litigation

supports Human Resources by providing proactive and strategic oversight and counseling on labor and employment matters, and by maintaining and developing US employment policies and training that are compliant with federal, state, and local laws. This role is also responsible for litigation support including selecting and managing outside counsel, supporting the discovery process, and directly handling routine litigation matters.Your Responsibilities:

Ensures federal, state, and local compliance in US employment law by drafting and maintaining policies that reflect both legal requirements and industry best practices.Advises Human Resources strategically on employment policies to mitigate risks and anticipate future legal developments.Provides legal counsel on a wide range of employment issues including accommodations, background checks, leaves of absence, performance management, discipline, and terminations.Manages disputes through negotiation, mediation, and legal documentation such as demand letters, settlement agreements, and position statements.Supports litigation efforts by overseeing outside counsel, managing budgets, coordinating investigations, and facilitating the discovery process.What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):

Education: Juris Doctor degree from a US accredited law school and ability to obtain in-house IN license.Required Experience: At least three (3) years’ experience in providing HR or legal counsel specifically on labor and employment matters, including experience working for a major corporation and/or major law firm.Top Two Skills: Ability to deliver work product within business constraints in a high-volume, fast-paced and demanding environment while balancing competing client requests; Strong learning agility and practical judgment.What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):

Experience supporting litigation matters.Experience leading, managing, and conducting employee investigations.Knowledge of labor law and union contract obligations.Excellent interpersonal, strategic thinking, communication and organizational skills.Additional Information
