ProfileA law firm in North Charleston, SC, is seeking a dedicated Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will manage defense litigation for workers’ compensation claims, representing employers and insurance carriers. They should possess a solid understanding of South Carolina workers’ compensation laws and practices.Duties:Defend employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation cases before the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission.Conduct legal research and draft various legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and appeals.Prepare clients for hearings, trials, mediations, and depositions.Negotiate settlements and agreements on behalf of clients.Collaborate with paralegals and support staff to manage case files efficiently.Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on workers’ compensation matters.Stay current on developments in workers’ compensation laws and regulations.Requirements:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the South Carolina State Bar in good standing.Must have experience practicing in workers’ compensation defense or related field.Proficient knowledge of South Carolina workers’ compensation laws, rules, and procedures.Proven litigation experience, including handling hearings and trials.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
