If you’re looking to be a part of a high performing, collaborative, and dedicated team, M Financial Group is in search of our next Assistant General Counsel.As Assistant General Counsel, you will provide advice and counsel in supporting the legal needs of the M Community including business lines, functional areas and Member Firms. In this role, you will serve as a partner to the Chief Legal Officer as related to life insurance regulations, corporate governance matters, and assisting with developing and implementing corporate and member firm agreements, policies, and guidelines. You will be responsible for contract management, including advising, negotiating, drafting and reviewing all manner of agreements involving M.RESPONSIBILITIESReview, draft, negotiate a wide variety of business-related contracts and agreementsSupport compliance team in regulatory exams, interpreting regulatory/legislative requirementsSupport government relations in responding to proposed regulation/legislationManage litigation/arbitration mattersRemain current on regulatory and litigation matters that impact our industry/products, keep relevant stakeholders apprised, develop mitigating strategiesWork with company stakeholders to ensure proper collection of electronic documents and filesCollaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on important legal issuesServe as a subject matter expert, educational resource, and strategic adviser, to business leaders and colleagues on a wide variety of corporate, securities, and insurance lawQUALIFICATIONSJ.D. required and in good standing with the state bar association7+ years relevant experience in the life insurance products and/or financial industry preferredExperience with drafting and reviewing commercial contracts requiredRelevant experience in either a private practice or in house settingRelevant securities licenses a plusStrong business acumen with executive presenceExtensive face-to-face client experience at all levels of an organization with a proven ability to build strong relationships and work cross functionallyAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines employing sound judgment in balancing prioritiesKnowledge of FINRA and SEC rules and regulations a plusExceptional organizational skills and excellent attention to detailStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsHighly computer literate, with experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft SharePoint, or other document management software.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSSalary will be commensurate with relevant experience, knowledge, and skills.You will also be eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.M Financial offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:Medical/Vision InsuranceDental InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability InsuranceLife InsuranceModern Health (Mental Health Therapy and Coaching)Empathy (Bereavement Support)Employee Assistance ProgramLife InsuranceFSA (Health and Dependent Care)HSA (for qualified medical plan)Long-Term Care Insurance401(k) MatchTuition AssistanceJOB CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAbility to work from M Financial’s Dallas office 4 days / week with the ability for a 5th day as businessNormal office environment/desk assignmentExtensive use of PC’s, computer terminal, display, keyboard, and mouseModerate Travel required, typically 10-20% of the time, as neededThis position description is not intended to be and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.
