ResponsibilitiesThe HVAC Release Engineer is responsible for the development and validation of the automotive HVAC compressor, A/C lines, Refrigerant Valves, Chillers, and Sensors.The candidate will ensure the components meet performance objectives and will coordinate development with other functional areas such as powertrain, BIW, Aero/Thermal, Engine Cooling, EE, and suppliers.Duties will include managing all design and engineering aspects of the assigned commodity, writing source packages, specifications, change notices, and overall supplier management to meet program timing and deliverables.Candidate will maintain a component and sub-system DVP&R, open issues list, issue resolution activity, and support and component bench testing, simulation, drive-cell, and static cell test results as well as perform data analysis and establish proper corrective actions as required.Need to lead a virtual team to design and perform CFD and FEA analysis for components to meet performance.Candidates will also support the pilot build process at the assembly plant for the development and installation of HVAC components.RequirementsBachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited institution.Basic knowledge of Thermodynamics and HVAC systems.Basic electrical knowledge, ability to read circuit diagrams, pinouts, and traces.Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical devices and sensors hardware and software (coding knowledge is not expected).CAN/LIN bus knowledge and/or circuit analysis experience.Experience with CAD tools - NX or Team Center.Strong PC + MS Office skills required. Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills and interpersonal skills.Self-starter and motivated to produce results.Preferred QualificationsExperience in e-compressors, chillers, refrigerant valves, HV/LV components are a plus.1-3 years of experience in HVAC compressors, blower units, A/C line, HVAC system design, or development. Other related design experience (Engine cooling, Aero-Thermal) also a plus.Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA), Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R), software and controls requirements.Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).Automotive assembly plant experience.
