. This position requires a Ph.D. degree. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of expert clinicians while independently developing the framework for a comprehensive and collaborative research program. New graduates are encouraged to apply!Preferred Skills & KnowledgePh.D. Degree, preferably in Epidemiology or life sciencesExperience with large data sets and/or qualitative research is preferred, but not required.Ideal candidate will be motivated, organized, and interested in program developmentJob DutiesPartner with surgeons, residents, and medical students to analyze research ideas and hypotheses in a variety of research areas/sub-specialtiesPursue and pilot personal research interests with support from department Chairperson and Vice Chair of ResearchUtilize large data sets through programs such as NSQIP, NCDB, PearlDiver, and other Insurance/CMS databasesPlans, organizes, coordinates, directs and personally participates in major medical or scientific research projects, including development and implementation of research protocols.Reviews and analyzes resulting research data, revises techniques or approaches to work problems as indicated as necessary by research data.Compiles, writes, and submits project results to external and internal audiences.Prepares or assists in preparation of research papers, reports, and abstracts for publication as one of co-authors.Designs, develops or adapts methodologies to obtain results.Apply for sources of internal and external funding.Prepare and deliver presentations at national and international conferences to large audiences.Confers with industrial, governmental, or other groups concerning progress or results of research project.May supervise employees, trainees and medical students engaged in performance of technical and professional research work, which varies from routine to complex work tasks.Performs other duties as assigned.Rush University System for Health
