The Senior Legal Counsel will have the opportunity to tap into their curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.Partnering closely with business stakeholders in Canada and lead multidisciplinary projects for strategic legal advice beyond a single business unit.Working closely with senior leaders in Canada to ensure compliance to Canadian law in respect of all the company’s operations in Canada.Assisting on inquiries regarding local Canadian law compliance, commercial contracts, government contracts, product liability, interactions with healthcare professionals, healthcare regulatory, privacy, employment, dispute management, compliance, corporate governance, secretarial and / or other specialized areas as assigned.Working independently on matters of significant complexity or importance.Leading and executing cross-functional deals and projects of significant impact and/or complexity.Formulating strategies for sophisticated business setups and dispute resolution.Identifying and quantifying legal risks, including exploring options and alternatives that provide a balance between risks and business objectives.Raising and monitoring questions and legal discussions that have applicability to our businesses and operations of the company within Canada.Supporting and accompanying judicial and administrative claims.Providing recommendations, consultations, and training, including organizational policies or regulatory questions.Monitoring and proactively managing legal issues occurring within Canada, through direct involvement or through management of law firms.Supporting or aligning the activities of the department with the company’s strategy in Canada.Managing the legal department including budget, outside counsel, and legal technology.Skills and Expertise:Minimum qualifications and requirements:At least 8 years of post-qualified legal experienceBachelor’s degree in law from an accredited institution.Experience gained within a reputable commercial law firm and, ideally, experience in the in-house legal environment.Good understanding of general commercial law, competition law, health care law, privacy, and related areas of practiceExperience dealing with Quebec law would be helpfulProficiency in English is required. French welcomed.Admission to practice in at least one Canadian jurisdiction.
