Maxar Technologies
Sr Data Scientist
Maxar Technologies, Herndon, Virginia, United States, 22070
Do you have a head for numbers? Like turning real-world problems into mathematical representations and checking to see if you did it right? If you like that, consider this opportunity with Maxar. Our customers have some of the most interesting needs and hardest challenges to resolve. Our solutions require integrated models based on large and varied datasets, feeding analytic applications so that we can extract patterns and behaviors obscured within the data to augment the capabilities of human operators. We need an experienced data scientist to work on all stages of the data science pipeline, to include applying existing machine learning software across large hyperparameter trade spaces, developing new machine learning algorithms and evaluating the best the commercial AI/ML industry has to offer to our problem set.
Why Maxar?
We build advanced AI/ML algorithms to gain analytic insights from a large range of open source and government data
We enable machine learning systems, automate workflow, and design and develop custom applications for unique national-security mission
We offer the opportunity to work with world-class data scientists and engineers on multi-discipline teams
Wherever possible, we bring to bear the newest in AI/ML technologies
Our leaders are engineers and scientists – they know how to help you and your project succeed
What would you be doing?
Creating and leading multi-discipline AI/ML teams in the creation of machine learning models and their supporting technologies
Providing strategic advice to government AI/ML clients fielding automatic target recognition (ATR) algorithms
Leading the development of algorithms compatible with government platforms such as Palantir and AWS
Advising Maxar and the project manager on the strengths and weaknesses of various AI/ML approaches, staffing footprints and delivery strategies
Briefing government clients, prime contractor partners and internal Maxar teams on delivery progress, algorithmic results, and project challenges
Generating sprint-style projections and risk assessments for AI/ML deliveries
Integrating and fielding a range of talents and personnel spanning the full landscape of data scientist skillsets: ETL, mathematics and modeling, data engineering, visualization and storytelling, platform integration, and data analytics
Leading and mentoring junior data scientists
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a US Citizen.
