Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Network Architect
for our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership in project execution and architecture of Edge Compute and CDN solutions.
Essential Functions Lead complex multi-system projects and drive collaboration with other teams and departments which enables key business capabilities Provide technical input to solution development plans and concept documents Define, document and communicate technical strategies for the evolution of Edge Compute and CDN solutions Influence CDN and Edge Compute roadmaps; Support and enforce adherence to the technical roadmaps and technical standards through interacting and collaborating with the application teams and product owners Lead advanced technical research on new technologies and determine feasibility of team or functional goals/objectives Drive business value through innovation, and architect new CDN and Edge Compute solutions Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions to address those opportunities (ex. architectural, performance, maintainability, security, scalability, reusability, etc.) Translate, negotiate, and communicate complex architectural and development concepts across application teams and key stakeholders to meet both architectural and business objectives Exercise a significant degree of leadership to projects and programs which contribute directly to organizational objectives Provide technical support during major incidents during business day, as well as off-hours as part of an on-call rotation or escalation Work with Directors, Managers, Product Owners, and Project Managers to determine system wide design impacts Regularly partner with Garmin IT Architects to define and align on enterprise wide strategies Assist in validating and communicating Level of Effort estimates for upcoming projects Attend or participate in applicable professional organizations to bring outside knowledge to Garmin Serve as a mentor to less experienced team members (Levels 1, 2 & 3) Perform other duties as necessary Basic Qualifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or another relevant field
AND
a minimum of 9 years relevant experience
OR
equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 5+ years hands-on experience with CDN management Advanced IP (Internet) networking and systems knowledge Knowledge of BGP, and Anycast Strong understanding of protocols like DNS, TCP, TLS and HTTP Experience with global Traffic Management Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision Must possess the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment Must possess excellent leadership skills and the ability to generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet Garmin's market launch requirements, while maintaining high quality standards Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality Demonstrated experience in successful implementation of technology solutions Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental setting Equal Opportunity Employer - minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
