Outcomes and Activities:

This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team memberDesign and develop software and improve existing codeWrite unit-tests and validate your software against acceptance criteriaApply team coding, documenting and testing standardsConduct impact analysis to proactively identify impact of a change within an applicationParticipate in code reviews and communicate application changesDocument code and projects so others can easily understand, maintain and supportDebug the problems which arise in production and propose effective solutionsRead and write design documentsLearn the business process domain to better support the businessContribute to team's sprint commitments and actively participate in our Agile practicesContribute to continuous learning activities to improve design and code quality as well as to increase application domain knowledgeGuide and aid less experienced software engineers

Competencies: The following items detail how you will be successful in this role.

Development: Develops solutions using standards and best practices of the applications language. Writes code that implements the design that is testable, extensible, efficient and maintainable.Impact Analysis: Understand the rationale behind and how changes impact the enterprise and/or applications and across the technical ecosystem.Solution Design: Ability to translate high level requirements to create and implement designs that meet the needs of the customer, are technically sound, maintainable and cost effective. Ability to identify missing or ambiguous requirements. Ability to design at both high and low levels of abstraction, understand complex requirements and translate into understandable solutions. Ability to accurately estimate based on requirements.Technical Domain: Have an understanding of the technical domain, including the application architecture, design and data of the application they support and systems to which it interfaces.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field of study; or equivalent work experienceMinimum 2 years of software engineering experienceUse of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patternsPractical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile/SCRUM and WaterfallWillingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Preferred:

Advanced understanding of IDEs and have the ability to navigate through them quickly.In-depth understanding of application programming interfaces (API) and frameworks in their particular field: JSON, Rest/SOAP based Web Services, JUnit, Jenkins and Bitbucket preferredExperience in API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, request and response modificationsExperience in creating REST API documentation using Swagger or similar tools desirableAbility to use DDL to create database objects and relationships and construct advanced queriesFinancial services industry experience

Knowledge and Skills:

Show initiative and offer assistance when neededBe introspective and open to feedback to continuously improve. Prioritize personal development and identify potential barriersBe collaborative with other team members, seeking a diversity of thought to meet business outcomesAbility to communicate complex technical information (both verbal and written) to all levels, including senior leadership

Targeted Compensation: Base salary of $98,000+ with an annual performance bonus plan
