DescriptionOn the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Finance team you will be surrounded by people that are exceptionally talented, bright, and driven, and believe that world class support is critical to customer success. This team works hard, has a great deal of fun; we are making history and having fun doing so.The position supports the Region Finance team in the development and execution of launch and expansion strategies for new regions and special projects. In this role, you will help lay the foundation to grow the AWS data center infrastructure footprint, ensuring that the business has a viable and cost-effective expansion path in regions we operate in. Areas of responsibility include:Owning financial elements of long-term Infrastructure Data Center supply strategies in new regionsEvaluating, influencing, and approving colocation contracts and supporting data center construction approvals to buildDeveloping and deploying KPI’s that allow us to identify course-correction opportunities in real-timeDriving process improvement and automationKey job responsibilitiesPartner with the AWS Infrastructure Business Development team to provide strategic guidance on investments, alternatives, and deal negotiations for region expansionsOwn discounted cash flow and P&L financial modeling, often under tight deadlines and lead executive-level discussions. Ensure internal stakeholders (e.g. Real estate, New Region Strategy Planning, Product teams, Networking, Data Center Engineering, Accounting, Legal, Tax, etc.) are aligned with recommendationsHelp prepare and deliver business reviews to the senior management team regarding progress and roadblocks to closing new dealsProvide controllership and oversight of business case data integrity and approvalsUnderstand infrastructure market segments, customer base, and industry verticals. Help set a business development plan for target markets and ensure alignment with approved expansion strategiesDevelop business and technology acumen to understand and account for technology transitions and business evolution in financial modelsIdentify and lead projects to drive automation and process improvement.Effectively partner with functional business partner leadership across real estate, energy, construction, supply chain, and securityWe are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Arlington, VA, USA | Seattle, WA, USABasic Qualifications3+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experienceBachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experiencePreferred Qualifications4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experienceExperience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)Experience in financial modeling, P&L management, or analysisAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
