Job Description
Emory University's Department of Pediatrics and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta are actively seeking outstanding pediatric pulmonologists to join the Division of Pulmonology Medicine.
The successful candidates will be a key member of our growing team of 28 pulmonologists, 16 advanced practice providers, two PhDs, and 14 PhD researchers.
The pulmonology team has research faculty with a broad range of expertise, but with a strong focus on cystic fibrosis, asthma and other airway diseases. Staff members also have expertise in treating medically complex children from birth through 21 years of age, and those with craniofacial abnormalities and genetic syndromes. We have a busy and diverse clinical service with faculty who specialize in pulmonary hypertension, aerodigestive disorders, sleep medicine, pulmonary sickle cell disease, technology-dependent children, severe asthma and cystic fibrosis.
The sleep medicine physician will have the following responsibilities along with additional duties as assigned;• Perform complete physician assessments• Conduct sleep studies• Order medications and medical devices as needed• Use and endorse the use of all the Practice's automated systems as needed• Conduct appropriate follow up to ensure appropriate levels of care• Ensure all preventive medicine testing is conducted on a routine basis• The position will offer the opportunity to teach residents and mentor graduating fellows
Qualifications include:• Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.• Graduate of an accredited, post graduate residency program in Pediatrics.• Graduate of an accredited, post graduate fellowship program in Pulmonology.• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Pulmonology.• Licensure in the state of Georgia, current DEA registration, BLS and PALS certification.
Pulmonology Medicine at Children's• Our pulmonology program is ranked No. 16 in the country for pediatric pulmonology and lung surgery by U.S. News and World Report for 2023-2024.• Our pediatric pulmonologists participate in many highly specialized, multidisciplinary programs and clinics, including those for high-risk asthma, technology dependence, complex airway disease, aerodigestive disorders, Interventional flexible bronchoscopy, primary ciliary dyskinesia, neuromuscular disorders, pulmonary hypertension and CCHS/diaphragm pacing.• Our Aerodigestive Clinic is the largest in the country and one of a few in the Southeast.• Children's Cystic Fibrosis Program is accredited by the national Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and is among the largest in the country• We actively lead and participate in a myriad of NIH funded investigator-initiated clinical and basic science research efforts.• We oversee active ACGME-accredited pediatric pulmonology fellowship training programs and sleep fellowship training programs.
To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.
Experience

Provides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.Performs other responsibilities as required.
