Summary: The Emergency Care Paramedic participates in the technical aspects of patient care delivery in the Emergency Care Center under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and Emergency Care Center Physician. The Emergency Care Paramedic is responsible for assisting the RN with data collection, specimen collection and testing, patient monitoring, patient transportation, and patient treatment.

Requirements:

* High School Diploma / GED * NREMT-P required * BLS * Clearances as required by Federal and State regulations * ACLS - within six months from hire * PALS - within one year of hire * NIHSS within 90 days of hire

Job Responsibilities:

Assists RN in data gathering for Emergency Care Center patients include:

* Accurate measurement of current vital signs * Chief complaint * Past Medical History * Allergies with reaction * Medication history with dosage and frequency * Other pertinent information

Performs monitoring of vital signs and patient status under the direction of the ECC RN and reports trends to the ECC RN or physician.

Performs quality control for waived lab tests

Maintains readiness of emergency equipment

* Performs crash cart checks * Performs daily defibrillator testing

Performs technical skills safely and according to procedure

Utilizes downtime appropriately

* Maintains adequate stock of supplies in treatment room.
