We are currently seeking a

Director of Marketing

to join the Communications & Marketing team in our Washington, DC office.

Position Overview

The Director of Marketing supports the execution of The ELC's strategic traditional & digital marketing strategy. This role will assist in development of strategic planning and coordinate the daily operations of the Marketing & Communications department and assist in the preparation of marketing collateral, manage The ELC's website, and plan and execute all SEO/SEM marketing, including email, social media, and brand advertising campaigns with a focus on data and analytics.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY OUTCOMES

Marketing Strategy

Assist in strategy and coordinate and carry out the daily operations of all communication and marketing activities in alignment with a strategic marketing plan.

Execute marketing plans/campaigns to promote existing and future ELC events, initiatives, research, press publications, etc.

Understand ELC's market, its current and future needs, and how best to reach those markets.

Stay abreast of market competition and competing programs and offerings.

Assist in the creation of marketing-related communications, including the annual report, membership e-newsletter, marketing materials, and website and social media content.

Help establish and maintain

consistent branding throughout product lines, promotional materials, and events.

Coordinate timing of the communication of departmental initiatives.

Prepare briefs, internal messages, one-pagers/brand collateral, talking points, presentations, and other supporting material as needed.

Work collaboratively with designated team leads and/or authors to position ELC and related deliverables as leaders in the respective space.

Work with other business partners (e.g., production or service providers, sales, research, and development) to promote marketing plans that deliver business results.

Benchmark, standardize, and manage market research tools, quantitative and qualitative, to include maintenance of databases/libraries.

Use CRM and other resources to

inform, analyze, implement, and report on marketing strategies as well as

segment and target messages for key markets.

Conduct and/or coordinate the use of market research tools for increased sales including surveys, ideation sessions, focus groups, data mining, and customer segmentation methodology.

Track and measure the success of all strategic plans/campaigns.

Receive and process all logo, graphics, and other requests related to branding and marketing.

Craft simple narratives and storytelling for marketing materials and campaigns.

Ideate on content with cross-functional staff for The ELC's members-only platform, My ELC.

Provide reasonable responsiveness to ELC's Communications inbox and cascade cross-functional information.

Event Marketing & Public Relations

Support communications, public relations and event-planning for membership programs and special events.

Support tracking/monitoring of The ELC and our members in the news media.

General Duties

Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adhere to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards.

Maintain current professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing professional networks, and participating in professional associations.

Ability to work in

a fast-paced office environment,

demonstrating a flexible approach with short deadlines.

Create and manage a seamless information sharing workflow within the Marketing & Communications department and the overall organization.

EDUCATION,

EXPERIENCE

& CREDENTIALS

A

Bachelor's Degree

in Communications, Public Relations, or another relevant academic discipline. Master's preferred.

A

minimum of 5-7 years

progressive responsible experience in

in

Marketing, both digital and traditional.

A

minimum of 3-5 years

of progressive responsible experience in creating & executing social media & digital marketing strategies.

Demonstratable experience leading and managing SEO/SEM database marketing campaigns.

Working knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, WebTrends, SEMRush, etc.).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an interior office setting which has no adverse environmental conditions expected.

Hybrid Role requiring 2 days per week in office and travel up to 20% of the time both in the field.

Work involves frequently sitting for extended periods of time, frequently talking or hearing, frequently operating a computer, and occasional light physical effort (lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, etc.) objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Work requires frequent ability to comprehend direction and adhere to policies or established procedures, ability to use logic to make sound decisions, ability to interpret and analyze data, ability to gather and organize information for a wide variety of audiences, ability to read and write a variety of materials, and ability to adapt well in the face of workplace stress.
