IMS Database Admin Duration : Long term Location: Richardson/Irving , TX /Tampa, FL/Basking Ridge, NJ/ Ashburn, VA /Alpharetta, GA onsite Client: Telecom Open for all Visa Job Summary: s an IMS Database Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of IMS databases. You will work closely with IT teams, developers, and business stakeholders to ensure database performance, security, and availability meet organizational needs. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration: Manage and maintain IMS databases, including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades. Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies to ensure high availability and responsiveness. Backup and Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness. Security: Implement database security best practices, including user access controls, data encryption, and auditing. Data Modeling and Design: Work with development teams to design and model databases to meet business requirements and ensure scalability. Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshoot database-related issues to ensure minimal downtime. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver effective database solutions. Compliance: Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements. Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to improve database operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Must have 10 years of extensive hands on experience on the following skills IBM z/OS Operating System IMS DBA on z/OS IMS DB (Database Mgmt System) and IMS TM (Transaction Manager) IMS DBRC (Database Recovery Control) DB2 Mainframe DBA Db2 for z/OS JCL (Job Control Language) on z/OS TSO/E on z/OS system (Time Sharing Option/Extensions) ISPF (Interactive System Productivity Facility) Proven experience as an IMS Database Administrator or a similar role. Strong understanding of IMS database architecture and components. Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization. Knowledge of database security best practices. Experience with backup and recovery processes and tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance requirements.
