What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $103,977.00-$171,000.00. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but is not limited to:
A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service

140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year

Location
In this position you can expect to work on site at the Denver International Airport, Worldport, 4-5 days per week.
What You’ll Do
The role of the Project Manager II within DEN’s Special Projects Team will help lead the project team’s efforts as part of a large multi-phase, multi-year vertical commercial construction upgrade program within an occupied, operable international airport located in Denver, Colorado. We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee construction activities and manage Special Projects construction staff.
The Project Manager II will bring direction, facilitation, subject matter expertise, proficiency with issue resolution, and a relationship-oriented approach to aid in the success of the program. The Project Manager II will focus on construction management and documentation, contractor performance measurement and reporting on the status of compliance in the areas of project cost, schedule, quality, and safety. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Specifically, as the Project Manager II you will:
Daily and main point of contact for the project
Schedule monitoring of Project Schedules and Cost Loaded Schedule
Manage coordination between contractor, airport operations, maintenance, and other stakeholders to mitigate impacts
Coordinate with contractors and City & County of Denver Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) on upcoming work
Review and approve monthly contractor invoices and payment requests
Review and approve change order requests for legitimacy and cost reasonableness
Assist DEN management in contract task order initiation, reviews and negotiations
Participate in design/constructability reviews and coordination meetings
Assist in RFI & submittal review/response
Monitor commissioning process and coordinate with commissioning agent
Manage project closeout process
Development/Input on risk matrix (internal to DEN)
Review of DEN Standards and Technical Specifications to prepare for design reviews
Manages safety and inspection personnel
Monitors contractor's construction activities to ensure construction document conformance
Monitors contractor performance activities and deliverables to ensure contract compliance
About You
What You’ll Bring
We are looking for organized, detail-oriented individuals with excellent relationship building skills. In addition, we are looking for candidates who have experience leading and influencing others, as well as candidates with some or all the following skills and experience. Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
Ten years of experience in construction management leading construction projects
A fundamental understanding of vertical commercial construction means/methods for all trade disciplines with a preference for experience working on large, occupied renovation projects
Familiarity with construction contract administration and an extensive knowledge of construction related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices
A professional demeanor to foster positive working relationships with user groups, operations, contractors and the public
Ability to multitask or manage/support multiple projects simultaneously
Extensive written and verbal communication, organizational, and planning skills
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including planning, managing, and scheduling projects and preparing and reviewing contract documents.
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education.
Licensure: Requires a valid driver’s license at the time of application
Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment.
Snow/Emergency Duties: Denver International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. If weather conditions warrant or an emergency crisis occurs, all DEN employees can be required to work extended hours and/or shifts.
