Fusers have built and licensed Magical Unicorn and FAETON I, 2 novel pulsed power generators.You are joining an early-stage fusion company. Please expect to wear different hats and take 0 to 1 ownership of objectives. Changing the world is hard but honorable and fulfilling. You should expect to work extremely hard to make a dent. As a computational scientist at Fuse, you’ll join our research team and work on the development and implementation of Particle-in-Cell (PIC) and Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations for the study of high-energy-density physics and pulsed-power experiments. The right candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic and collaborative team of scientists and engineers and to contribute to cutting-edge research in inertial confinement fusion. Some of the key responsibilities of a Computational Scientist may include:Conduct simulations of MagLIF experiments using PIC and MHD codes;Develop and optimize PIC and MHD codes to improve their accuracy and efficiency;Analyze simulation data and provide insights into the physics of HEDP experiments;Collaborate with experimentalists to design and interpret experiments based on simulation results;Write scientific papers and reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals;Present research findings at conferences and workshops.Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in physics, computational science, or a related field;6+ years’ experience in high-energy-density physics, particularly in the areas of magnetohydrodynamics and particle-in-cell simulations;5+ years’ experience with high-performance computing and parallel programming;Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;Publication record in peer-reviewed journals;Ability and willingness for bi-coastal travel.Additional Requirements
Must be able to travel and work extended hours/weekends as needed.To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
