We’re looking for experienced engineers to join our Developer Experience team, focused on building the tools and systems used by Aurora software engineers.

In This Role, You Will

Work with engineers from across the organization to understand developer pain points and implement solutionsFocus on solving the problems of efficiently developing a complex software system at scaleHelp develop, run, and grow the tools / services used to build and test autonomous vehicle systemsContribute development effort to one of the following areas: Developer tooling & workflows, software build system, continuous integration, release engineering & managementBuild and enhance the developer platform required to deliver on Aurora’s product ambitions, including the Aurora DriverFocus on building org-wide tooling aimed at measuring and incrementally improving software qualityWork with senior leadership to define and execute our software quality strategyDesign and build tools related to coverage, static analysis, test reliability, and other facets of software development at scale

Required Qualifications

Degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent working experience)Strong background in one or more of the following: C++, Go, or Python3+ years of experience working on large software development projects spanning multiple teamsPast experience working directly on developer tooling, software development workflows, build systems (especially Bazel), compilers/toolchains, coverage and static analysis, and related areas is a huge plus

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with developer tools and software development workflows, as well as version control/source code management platforms (GitHub strongly preferred)Knowledge of continuous integration processes and tools, with bonus points for familiarity with the Buildkite platformBackground in software development tools such as build systems (Bazel in particular), compilers, static analysis & coverage toolsUnderstanding of the challenges, trade offs, and approaches involved in providing a world class developer experience in a monorepo development environmentPassionate about understanding the needs of our engineering teams and shipping tools/features that increase code velocity and improve the overall developer experience

The base range for this position is $130,000 - $195,000. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
