ResponsibilitiesThe Project Engineer, or project manager-in-training, is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in all aspects of the day-to-day management of $20+ million construction projects. This position will contribute in all activities required to source, pursue and build a project including cost estimation, contract administration, schedule management and risk-quality management. With Brinkmann’s “concept-to-completion” business model, Project Engineers enjoy a high-level of responsibility leading to a career path in project management with a leader in the industry.
Identify and pursue new business development opportunities including maintaining positive client relationships to leverage future repeat business
Prepare full cost estimates including quantity take-offs and pricing
Participate in bid solicitation, bid package preparation and analysis
Assist in preparation of general contract and subcontract administration
Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
Prepare permit applications
Maintain updated construction documents including as-builts
Manage and process shop drawings and submittals
On site management of the project assisting the superintendent
Coordinate material and equipment procurement and expediting
Facilitate the RFI process
Document project coordination meetings for distribution
Monitor project schedules to ensure adherence to key dates
Initiate, review and negotiate change orders
Oversee entire close-out process including creation and completion of punch list
Ability to understand and solve complex challenges in order to present alternative solutions
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Civil, Architectural or Construction), construction management or related field required
1-2 years' experience in commercial construction
Relevant experience supporting construction projects from conception to completion in diverse commercial market sectors including High-Rise, Multifamily/Student Housing, Senior Living, Large Box Industrial and Hospitality
Prior conceptual estimating and bidding experience with emphasis in commercial construction is preferred
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
Proficiency with computer applications including Procore, Microsoft Office suite, and SharePoint

Travel is likely as clients and projects are regional and national
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company, for this position currently or in the future
