He or she will coordinate and monitor the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of clinical informatics applications and projects within the assigned ministry/area as well as coordinate and provide direct support and education to Kern Medical clinicians (physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary team members) in their use of Health System technology including the electronic health record (EHR). 5% travel required across the Bakersfield area for clinic needs. The roles will support both acute and ambulatory service lines.Essential Functions:Develops curriculum for clinical information and communication systems and provides education

for current and new customers.Coaches, mentors, and provides one-on-one at-the-elbow support (including Dragon Medical One, Dragon Medical Advisor, PowerChart Mobile, and other mobile clinical solutions) for members of the clinical team in gaining and maintaining competency in the use of clinical information and communication systems.Provides instructor-led training tailored to the learner’s individual needs, including but not limited to flexibility with time, location, and content; assesses and addresses educational needs related to clinician/provider use of clinical information systems.Develops and coordinates communication about future CERNER changes, upgrades, and downtimes to clinical customers; develops and performs competency assessments related to clinician use of information systems, documents findings; designs and delivers targeted training and remediation as necessary and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.Synthesizes data, information, and knowledge to clarify informatics issues or problems; analyzes multiple approaches/solutions to the informatics issue or problem, develop a recommended informatics solution for the specific issue or problem; and manages the process for implementing the solution to the informatics issue or problem.Identifies, analyzes, prioritizes, redesigns, tests, and implements improvements to existing clinical information systems; leads root cause analysis efforts related to clinical information systems.Develops methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining clinical information system performance improvement results; considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, costs, and impact on patient care when problem-solving.Employment Standards:Education:Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.; (as appropriate for the role); licensed pharmacist.Experience:Two (2) years experience in creating, designing, and writing training materials.Two (2) years experience in Electronic Health Record maintenance and support of Cerner Millennium.Project management and/or project team leadership.Change management and process improvement leadership.Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.Staying current with HIPAA, CMS, and TJC (The Joint Commission) standards, management and healthcare issues and trends, and legal implications pertaining to CERNER access and use.Supplemental:All Kern Medical employees are designated “Disaster Service Workers” through state and local laws (CA Government Code Sec. 3100-3109 and Ordinance Code Title 2 - Administration, Ch. 2.66 Emergency Services.)
