Summary:

As we expand our Enterprise Data and Analytics team at Huntington, we are looking for an experienced and visionary Lead Data Scientist to spearhead our analytics initiatives within the security organization. In this elevated role, you will be at the forefront of integrating advanced analytics into our security strategies, leveraging a wide array of techniques including descriptive analysis, insight analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, and comprehensive data analysis. Your mission will be to strengthen our security posture and ensure the safety and integrity of our operations and customer interactions.

In this pivotal role, you will not only apply your deep expertise in data science to identify and mitigate security risks but also lead a team of data scientists in developing sophisticated analytical models. Your leadership will drive the innovation and implementation of cutting-edge analytical solutions to complex security challenges. As a Lead Data Scientist at Huntington, your contributions will be instrumental in advancing our goal to become a leader in data-driven security solutions in the banking industry.

Your responsibilities will include mentoring and guiding your team, defining project roadmaps, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact analytics projects. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, providing them with strategic insights, advanced analytical reports, and decision-making tools that are crucial for effective risk management and security operations.

Duties And Responsibilities

Performs advanced analytics methods to extract value from business data.Performs large-scale experimentation and build data-driven models to answer business questions.Conducts research on cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning/deep learning/artificial intelligence.Determines requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms.Articulates a vision and roadmap for the exploitation of data as a valued corporate asset.Influences product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations.Evangelizes best practices to analytics and products teams.Owns the entire model development process, from identifying the business requirements, data sourcing, model fitting, presenting results, and production scoring.Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, economics or related field5+ years of experience related work experience using statistics and machine learning to solve complex business problems, experience conducting statistical analysis with advanced statistical software, scripting languages, and packages, including experience with big data analysis tools and techniques, and building and deploying predictive models, web scraping, and scalable data pipelines.Expert understanding of statistical methods and skills such as Bayesian Networks Inference, linear and non-linear regression, hierarchical, mixed models/multi-level modelingStrong experience with R, RSTudio, Python, SAS, SQL, NoSL

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in computer science, statistics, economics, or related fields.Advanced proficiency in programming languages (Python, R) and data visualization software (PowerBI, Tableau) for comprehensive data analysis and reporting.Demonstrated ability in applying both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to derive actionable intelligence from complex datasets.Experience across various analytical domains including descriptive analysis, insight analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, and data analysis, with a strong emphasis on practical application in business contexts.Skilled in synthesizing unstructured and structured data sources to inform strategic decision-making.Proactive in acquiring new technological skills and methodologies, with a proven track record of applying these in a professional setting.Exceptional communication skills, capable of explaining intricate analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Strategic thinker with a focus on delivering tangible outcomes, combined with intellectual curiosity and an outcome-oriented mindset.Professional demeanor with a strong ability to build relationships across various functional areas.Experience in mentoring junior analysts, enhancing their skills in data analysis, programming, and strategic thinking.Proven leadership in cross-functional team environments, demonstrating the ability to drive projects to successful completion.Expertise in Cloud Machine Learning technologies (e.g., AWS Sagemaker) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, caret).Comprehensive knowledge and experience with at least one Data Science environment (R/RStudio, Python, SAS) and one database architecture (SQL, NoSQL).Preferably with a background in Financial Services or a similarly data-intensive industry.
