SUMMARY:
Worship at Christ Church is overseen by the elders of the church. A Worship in Song Leader who is not an elder works with one specific elder to plan and prepare worship music and liturgy for the Sunday Service
QUALIFICATIONS:
Fulfill the requirements of Christ Church members as outlined in Christ Church’s by-laws and membership class
Proficient both vocally and with musical instrument (guitar and/or keyboard)
Experience in Leading Worship in a contemporary church setting
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Character: Godliness, gospel-centrality, maturity, passion, flexibility, creative communication, and humility are essential and expected
Behavioral Competencies: Ability to work with, cultivate, and harness the artistic temperament; creativity; strong communication skills on and off stage; and confidence on stage leading a band and congregation in worship; strong leadership qualities
Abilities: must have education/training pertaining to the accountabilities of this position; a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computer operating systems; the ability to work with others from diverse background and stages of spiritual development; the desire to grow in abilities and capable of continuing education and growth in this position
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leading Worship: leader, arranger, encourager, vocal coach, band director, as well as demonstrating a life of gospel-informed worship. Responsibilities include choosing/arranging theologically sound songs, ordering/writing/charting theologically sound music, scheduling and leading weekly rehearsals, and leading weekly worship gatherings in conjunction with the Elders; scheduling musicians in Planning Center
Worship Leader Oversight: Worship Leader will be in contact with Specified Elder each week to convey liturgy for that Sunday, allowing sufficient time for any adjustments that need to be made
Training and Recruiting Assistance: Collaborates with Specified Elder to recruit and train potential volunteer servers
COMPENSATION:
The Worship Leader would be hired as a non-salaried, independent contractor, with a weekly stipend of $250/week.
