This Provider, under the supervision of the Medical Director, is responsible for screening, diagnosing and treating primary care patients and providing HIV care to adults in a sensitive and non-judgmental manner. The Provider will support the organization’s goal in providing primary care and specialty care to both HIV positive and HIV negative individuals, under-served communities and LGBTQ communities in all their diversity, regardless of their ability to pay.

Primary Tasks/Responsibilities:

Provide high quality comprehensive care and treatment to new and established patients under the supervision of the Medical Director.

Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families.

Determines which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs, initiates those linkages appropriately and communicate effectively with consultants and subspecialists.

Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments.

Formulates plan of care, orders studies, tests and ancillary services and prescribes medical treatment for patients, as clinically appropriate.

Documents all care in the patient’s medical record, eClinicalWorks, in a timely manner.

Consults with Medical Director and other professionals on staff, as needed, regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues.

Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the organization.

Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and/or family in accordance with professional and departmental standards.

Complies with all established METRO policies, procedures and protocols as well as any department-specific policies and procedures as they relate to provider functions.

Maintains current professional license

Promotes and practices the mission, vision and values of Metro Inclusive Health.

Provides after hours call coverage for patient needs that are of an urgent nature.

Education/Professional:

Current, Active, and unencumbered Florida State Licensure, APRN

Minimum of 5 years of experience providing outpatient ambulatory primary medical care

Experience providing HIV care and AAHIVM certification preferred, but not required. If not AAHIVM certified, willingness and ability to obtain this certification within 12 months of starting the position, with training provided on site.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies Required:

Knowledge of best practices for working with uninsured and under-served communities

Experience in Sexual Health and in screening, treating & patient education in sexually transmitted infection within a harm reduction model of care, preferred.

Ability to provide care and treatment to patients diagnosed with co-morbid conditions.

Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.

Ability to document in EMR systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to tactfully interact with diverse personalities.

Ability to work as part of a team, maintaining productivity and delivery of high-quality care.

High comfort working in a diverse, busy environment with changing priorities.

Requirements:

Must possess and maintain valid Florida driver’s license and proof of insurance

Must have reliable and accessible auto vehicle.

Must pass necessary fingerprinting, Level II background checks and employment eligibility verification through the U. S. Department of Homeland Security’s E-Verify system, https://e-verify.uscis.gov/emp.
