Responsibilities include:Teaching undergraduate courses in Public Relations Techniques and/or Event Management & Planning.Extending learning beyond the campus classroom to connect students with community partners in experiential educational opportunities.Commitment to our diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in pedagogy and community engagement.The Public Relations Techniques course introduces students to the various skills and techniques employed by public relations professionals, including writing for public relations, media relations, special events, and crisis management. Students get hands-on experience understanding the uses of, and preparing copy for, news releases, news kits, advertisements, collateral materials, annual reports, speeches, audio/visual scripts and Public Service Announcements.Event Management & Planning is an experiential course where students gain hands-on practice planning and managing special events, the factors that go into planning them, and the expectations of participants.

Requirements:

We seek candidates who have demonstrated pedagogical expertise in undergraduate education. Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree and will have at least two years of college-level teaching experience in Public Relations. A PhD or ABD is preferred. Applicants who hold a Master's degree and a substantial record of professional accomplishment in the field are encouraged to apply.Availability to teach late afternoon and evening is preferred, but not required.The University seeks candidates who, through their work and life experiences, service to the community, teaching, or professional practice can contribute to our diversity, inclusivity, and equity goals.At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
