Job Description:

The Gadomski School of Engineering at Christian Brothers University seeks a dynamic individual for a faculty position in Civil & Environmental Engineering, with an expected start date of January 2025. The ideal candidate will have a background in Structural or Geotechnical Engineering. This position will remain open until filled. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply by no later than August 2024.The faculty member will be expected to teach courses in either Structural Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering and may be asked to teach other select support courses. Decisions for tenure, tenure-track, or non-tenure-track appointment will be based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.Typical Required Courses:Mechanics courses (Statics and Mechanics of Materials)Structural courses (Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Reinforced Concrete Design)

Geotechnical courses (Soil Mechanics, Soil Mechanics Lab, Foundation Design)Construction MaterialsRelated Electives and LaboratoriesOther Support Courses:Introduction to Civil EngineeringCivil Engineering AnalysisEngineering GraphicsJunior/Senior Design ProjectLicensure & Certification in Civil EngineeringPrimary Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain teaching excellence in a full teaching load each semester.Advise civil engineering students and seniors in their projects.Develop a research program that engages undergraduate civil engineering students.Advise Civil Engineering Student Competitions.Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:Develop a research program that generates external funding and leads to scholarly publications.Serve on school and university committees.

Requirements:

M.S. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Geotechnical EngineeringProficiency in either Structural Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering curriculaExcellence in teaching ability at the undergraduate level and ability to engage students in undergraduate researchAbility to initiate and develop new programs/concentrations in civil engineering and pursue applied research and innovations to support current and future industry demands in civil engineeringP.E. license or ability to obtain a P.E. license before applying for promotion or tenurePreferred Qualities:Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Geotechnical EngineeringPrior teaching experience at a primarily undergraduate institutionPrior experience in externally funded applied research in either Structural Engineering or Geotechnical EngineeringProficiency with current laboratory instrumentation in either Structural Engineering or Geotechnical EngineeringP.E. LicenseA secondary background in Materials Engineering
