This position will advise internal clients and represent them in proceedings before the US Patent Office and US Federal Patent Court. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating external counsel in IP Prosecution and IP Litigation cases, as well as supervising the work of IP coordinators within the US and Americas. This position will interface with IP Services at the global headquarter of thyssenkrupp AG located in Essen / Germany on a regular basis.Primary ObjectivesProcessing of invention disclosures, including performing and analyzing patent searches for relevant prior artDrafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications and trademark applications on a national and international levelInternal counseling in all IP areas, including trademark law and (if applicable) Inventor Remuneration lawProviding advice on development projects with respect to patent rights and other IP rights, including support in drafting cooperation and development contracts with third partiesAnalysis and Evaluation of own and third party's IP rights, including written opinions for the ThyssenKrupp Group companiesTaking responsibility for proceedings in the areas of invalidation, infringement and litigation proceedings, including management of external counselDrafting of license agreementsCoordination of external patent attorneys, lawyers and service providersRequirements/ QualificationsQualified US Patent Attorney (must) with 2 - 5 years of experience in IP practice (preferably in an IP law firm or / and an industrial patent department), including meaningful professional exposure to all major areas of IP practiceMaster's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or Processing TechnologiesLanguage skills in describing complicated technical facts in a clear and understandable mannerStrong communication and interpersonal skillsExcellent organizational skills with a strong attention to detailAbility to work as an individual and in a team-oriented environment with a high level of integrity and professionalismAbility to maintain and safeguard confidential and sensitive informationEconomically focused and goal-oriented thinking and actingWorking ConditionsWork environment is primarily remote, but candidate must be able to travel to the Chicagoland area or to various group company locations in North America as needed
