Associate Food Scientist

SUMMARYThe Associate Food Scientist position is a product development role that primarily focuses on formulations in the following beverage categories: alcohol, energy drinks, sparkling water, soda, and tea. This role will be responsible for product innovation, cost-savings initiatives, bench tops, pilot plant trials, and production trials. Additionally, this role will be expected to complete analytical work to support R&D activities and provide technical assistance to other departments.Roles and ResponsibilitiesConduct experiments at various scales, either individually or as part of a team, according to the experimental design to support commercial product/process development and problem-solving.Provide experienced input and assist senior team members in product/process R&D.Conduct analytical tests on food, beverages, and ingredients to evaluate products and ensure specifications and regulations are met.Support projects with laboratory analytical work and general lab organization.Develop bench-top prototypes in the lab and assist with commercialization scale-ups in the pilot plant.Provide technical assistance and collaborate effectively with immediate and cross-functional team members.Balance multiple project initiatives simultaneously and be flexible to changing directions.Participate in product tastings and collaborate with R&D teammates to design superior product formulations.Design formulations for customer demonstrations that highlight current trends and new ingredient technologies.Create manufacturing instructions that ensure products meet organoleptic, stability, nutritional, and regulatory standards.Stay informed about industry trends and new ingredient technologies, leveraging this knowledge to develop innovative ingredient systems.Utilize strong knowledge of ingredient functionality and product development best practices to create great-tasting, safe, and stable beverage products.Have experience with product development formulation across all beverage categories.Skills/ Knowledge:Advanced skills and knowledge for one or more processes or areas. Subject matter expert in the areas assigned. Work requires meeting performance deadlines and being exact or highly accurate; it requires face-to-face discussions with individuals or teams and working with others in a group or team requiring demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy. Completes objectives through supervisors or managers or senior level subject matter experts. Experience with product development formulation across all beverage categories, pilot plant experience, and carbonated beverage experience preferred.Computer Skills:Advanced computer skills in a variety of computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software, including statistical/data analysis and report writing skills.Sensory Analysis:Must be proficient in sensory evaluation techniques and methodologies and have experience conducting and analyzing consumer tests, discriminative tests, and descriptive analyses with a strong understanding of various beverage products’ flavor, texture, aroma, and visual attributes.

Participation in sensory testing for Alcohol and Caffeine beverages is required.Other Requirements:Applicants must be legally authorized to work in U.S. without sponsorship and must be at least 21 years of age to comply with legal regulations regarding the handling and proximity to alcohol.Why Join Us:
