Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced research scientist to join us at the Analytical department at Adesis. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team of analytical chemists, synthetic chemists, and materials scientists. His/her work will focus on analysis and structure elucidation of complex mixtures (such as OLED compounds, APIs, and their impurities) by LC-MS and other techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze samples using LC-MS, (U)HPLC, GC-MS, GC, and other relevant techniques
Develops and validates methods for LC-MS, (U)HPLC, GC-MS, GC
Perform instrument maintenance and calibration activities and arrange for repairs as needed
Process data and compile analytical data packages/reports. Perform documentation and archival of analytical work per company procedures
Take a lead as subject matter expert. Manage multiple projects and test requirements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and tight deadlines
Work closely with synthetic chemistry teams to develop innovative approaches to address specific challenges in sample analysis, method development and structural elucidation
Author and review SOPs, test methods, and protocols
Strictly follow company policies, SOPs, and safety standards
Train new chemists on the use of analytical equipment
Help maintain a clean and safe work area
Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental Science or related discipline (exceptional applicants with Master’s degree and extensive industry/government experience may be considered also)
Relevant post-degree experience (in academia, industry, or government) is a plus
Extensive hands-on experience in and solid conceptual understanding of mass spectrometry (including HR/AM measurements and chemical formula determination) is required
Prior experience in reversed-phase LC method development (e.g., stationary phase screening) and/or in analytical method validation is strongly desired
Experience in various LC modalities (chiral HPLC, GPC) and in GC is a plus
Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: thermal analysis techniques, NMR, vibrational, and fluorescence spectroscopies
Strong understanding of instrument hardware and software, and experience in maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience in performing instrument calibrations
An effective collaborator with the ability to work both independently and in a cross-functional team to deliver on complex objectives
Solid research experience (including experience in technical problem solving) and demonstrated ability to communicate scientific concepts and results through publications, patents, presentations, or other professional/scientific venues
Desire and ability to learn new concepts outside of core expertise and training
Experience working in a cGMP environment is a plus
