Transdev U.S. employs a team of 32,000 across 400 locations while maintaining more than 17,000 vehicles.About the Role: The Vice President, Safety provides overall strategic direction and leadership in establishing a safety sensitive culture for Transdev, US which includes the creation of Safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all FTA, DOT, and OSHA standards, and development and implementation of training and safety programs, which contributes to system-wide reduced accidents, injuries, and claims.Responsibilities:Develops and maintains company safety policies and proceduresDirects a team of Regional Safety Directors to ensure compliance with company policies, and Federal and State laws regarding driver selection and safetyDevelops and implements driver selection and training programs and supports and advises on driver recruitment issuesLeads all safety and training functions for property startupsOversees the Lytx contract and program managementManages safety vendor contracts and relationshipsResearches and develops programs for screening and training new drivers; for tracking and reporting driver performance; for introducing continuing education; and for heightening driver awareness to safety performanceDevelops and institutes programs to monitor and investigate workers’ compensation and auto liability claims, company drug and substance abuse policy enforcement, criminal record and background checks, and OSHA compliance requirements for the companyDirects and leads the company’s internal and external safety audit programOversees WebRisk accident and injury portal for the safety departmentEnsures global and company Key Performance Indicators are developed as needed, accurately tracked, analyzed, and maintainedAssists and advises on risk financing issues, specifically the placement and maintenance of general liability, auto liability, and workers’ compensation coverageEducation, Licensing, and Certifications:Advanced degree preferredCertified Safety and Security Director (CSSD) or other safety specific certification preferredExperience:10 years of transportation or logistics safety experience preferred; including 8 years of management experienceSkills and Knowledge Required:Extensive experience in large, matrixed environments required.Proven managerial and leadership experience to provide direction, guidance, and coachingDemonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating leading-edge Transportation Safety Training programs and policiesStrong knowledge of regulations and legislation governing standards for health and safety in the workplaceSignificant executive level experience in Transportation Safety Education and Training Experience providing Safety leadership nationwideProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to analyze safety and financial dataKnowledgeable of FTA, DOT, and OSHA standards.
