Position Title: Full-Time Faculty Position in the Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership; emphasis on Qualitative MethodologyPosition Tracking Number: F187School/College: School of EducationDepartment: Educational LeadershipLocation: Azusa, CADescription:This is a 10-month faculty position in the Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership at Azusa Pacific University. The Ed.D. program prepares promising K-12 educators with the theoretical and practical understanding to lead amidst the changing environment of the nation's K-12 schools in a 3-year dissertation embedded, cohort-based format. All courses are offered on a hybrid basis, with sessions occurring on selected Saturdays (6 class sessions in both fall and spring semesters, and 4 class sessions in the Summer A semester). We are seeking a creative and collaborative colleague with prior doctoral dissertation committee chair and/or methodologist experience and graduate teaching experience to join us in the second year of our new program launch.Specialization:Qualitative research methodology and K-12 school leadership. Teaching may include courses on organizational theory and change, diversity and equity, educational policy, strategic planning, legal issues and crisis management, and/or leadership ethics.Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core qualitative research methodology courses, mentoring students, serving on dissertation committees, and maintaining a professional research agenda. In addition, all faculty are expected to contribute to ongoing program improvement efforts and participate in committee service at the program, School, and/or University level, as well as to the broader professional community.Potentially, this role may also include departmental chair responsibilities. The chair serves as the chief academic administrator of the department and provides leadership in the primary areas of faculty teaching, research and service; enrollment and budgets; and program development and assessment. Faculty recruiting, support, and supervision (through the University’s Faculty Evaluation System) are significant components of this role. If assigned, the chair role will include an extension of the contract to a 12-month term.Level:

The University has an expectation of and provides support for faith integration across the curriculum.)Earned doctorate in education from an accredited institutionFaculty experience teaching at the graduate level required, with hybrid format experience (online and face-to-face) preferredExperience serving on doctoral dissertation committees required; experience chairing dissertation committees preferredFamiliarity with contemporary K-12 issues required; significant teaching and/or administrative experience at the K-12 level preferred;Commitment to professional and scholarly activity as demonstrated by an active research agenda that speaks to both practitioner and academic communitiesDemonstration of collegial teamwork and desire to collaborate with colleagues to meet program and department needsAn established record of success in serving ethnically diverse populationsAdditional Qualifications for a Potential Chair Role:University academic administrative experience (overseeing faculty and staff, budgets, academic policy implementation, etc.) preferredSignificant K-12 experience, preferably including leadership at the district levelWorkload:Full-time faculty, 10-month contract (will be extended to 12-months if a chair role is assigned). The typical workload includes teaching, scholarly activity, service, advising, and School and/or University committee assignments. August 2024Compensation:$66,560 to $125,460 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Azusa Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
