Background:

The DSTRO (Data Science for Technology, Risk and Operations) team is looking for a Senior Data Scientist that has a combination of skills to provide quantitative analysis and high-quality data products in the financial services domain. The right candidate will be part of a team that works closely with BofA Institute, Economic Research, Equity Research, and Global Risk Management teams to produce high frequency economic indicators, including consumer retail spending, wage growth, consumer credit, etc. Additionally the candidate will also help produce stories of interest to investors, economists, and consumer risk analysts, leveraging our bank's proprietary customer transaction data through debit card, credit card, ACH, and other channels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with Global Research partners and Control Function partners to develop analytic stories about consumer economic behavior
  • Ensure high level of quality in data products through careful attention to detail
  • Communicate findings, gaps, and opportunities to all levels of the organization
  • Take projects from ideation to data analysis to visualization and presentation


Additional responsibilities include enabling analysis, modeling, and optimization through producing information products. Actively involved in the research and development efforts. Primary requirement is not related to traditional programming or systems analysis skills but to the ability to create sophisticated, value-added analytic systems that support revenue generation, risk management, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, and research. These systems must overcome issues of complex data (e.g., VLDB, multi-structured, big data, etc.) as well as deployment of advanced techniques (e.g., machine learning, text mining, statistical analysis, etc.) to deliver insights. Responsible for adoption of enterprise information products through clearly communicating how enterprise information products answer material banking questions leading to decisions and actions. This role often possesses an advanced degree in hard science or another heavy quantitative business or social discipline. Able to lead or work independently on complex projects and influence strategic direction.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in statistics, finance, economics, or equivalent quantitative experience
  • 5+ years of data driven analytical experience
  • Proficient in pulling data from big relationship database, like Teradata, and flat files
  • Strong SAS/Python/SQL programming skills
  • Strong attention to detail and curiosity about data anomalies
  • Ability to collaborate within and between cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized and experienced in leading/managing projects, initiatives, and development
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
