The National Security Sector at Leidos is looking for a Life Scientist who will be working directly with government leadership, provide expert support to the Biomanufacturing Sector of Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III, part of the Manufacturing Capability Expansion & Investment Prioritization (MCEIP) Office within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment (OUSD (A&S)).

This is a hybrid role that requires candidates to reside within a commutable distance of Alexandria, VA. You will be required to travel to a client site at least 2 days per week.

Your Main Mission:
  • Assess, identify, and provide recommendations for DPA Title III Biomanufacturing investments in biotechnology and biomanufacturing in five areas: fabrication, firepower, fitness, food, and fuel (5Fs) with the objective to help build the long-term capability and viability of sources of high-quality critical material.
  • Assess, identify, and provide recommendations for biomanufacturing investments that address known or explainable domestic supply chain issues.
  • Ensure bio-manufactured materials of interest address current and evolving DoD needs, such as resolving long-term shortages, filling a gap in the domestic industrial base, or bioproduction of material that cannot be, or is no longer able to be, produced through conventional (e.g., chemical) processes (e.g., due to new regulations).
  • Help reduce/eliminate foreign dependency of defense-critical products while minimizing environmental impact.
  • Draft an overarching strategy to identify biomanufacturers that serve multiple industries and establish new partnerships with non-traditional defense suppliers to create sustained investments.

What Sets You Apart:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Ability to understand programmatic requirements, identify and assess available technologies, develop and advocate recommended solutions to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing comprehensive strategies.
  • Effective collaboration and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with stakeholders
  • Proven technical advocacy and program execution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Must have US citizenship.

You Might Also Have:
  • Proven track record of publications. Knowledge of government policies and regulations.

Clearance Required:
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance within 60 days of hire.

Pay Range: Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
