The Turquoise Ridge capital projects team are looking for an Electrical Project Engineer, level II at our Turquoise Ridge operations, north of Winnemucca, Nevada. The successful candidate will assist and support team members with assigned aspects of mining, process plant and general site electrical infrastructure revitalization projects. The Turquoise Ridge mine site is an exciting property and has recently extended its mine life by 20+ years with a high-grade underground ore-zone extension. Due to the age of the facility, much infrastructure requires modernization, inspection, and rehabilitation.

About the Team
Nevada Gold Mines (NGM) is a joint venture between Barrick (61.5%) and Newmont (38.5%) that combined our significant assets across Nevada in 2019 to create the single largest gold-producing complex in the world. NGM produces approximately 3.5 million ounces of gold a year. The massive mining operation comprises eight mines along with their associated infrastructure and processing facilities and hosts three of Barrick's Tier One assets: Carlin, Cortez, and Turquoise Ridge. Responsibilities:
- Assist and lead project definition, scoping, costing, approval, design, permitting and construction activities of electrical infrastructure projects
- Projects currently consist of infrastructure revitalization, reliability and modernization projects, including
- Upgrading of site power control and protection relays
- Leading and coordinating the updating of site single line diagrams
- Leading and coordinating electrical power system studies, relay protection and coordination studies
- Identifying, scoping and implementing the upgrade of obsolete electrical infrastructure
- Installation of capacitor banks to improve site power factor
- Provide support to the electrical portion of capital projects run by others. Current projects include Reverse Osmosis water treatment plant capacity upgrades, distributed tailings pump systems, upgrades to process plant equipment, etc.
- Other project opportunities as they arise
- Work closely with Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), Permitting, Plant Maintenance, Reliability, Operations and Technical Services, to develop project scope
- Work closely with the site's Electrical plant engineer to execute sustaining capital projects and provide ongoing support;
- Work closely with the EBO corporate reliability team
- Develop and justify project scopes of work, and execute, including development of contracts, procurement orders, required supporting documentation, and performs other duties as assigned
- Formulate project parameters, and assist in monitoring progress to address constraints
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, technologist diploma or relevant experience in electrical engineering or a related field required
- Four (4) - Six (6) years of industrial electrical engineering experience working in capital projects, electrical infrastructure testing, power distribution or heavy industry plant engineering required
- Comparable trade or technologist experience and education will be considered.
- Project planning/management experience required
- Knowledge of standard project delivery models and methods, including PMI's PMBOK knowledge areas, basic stage gate project steps (scoping/concept/feasibility/implementation/ closeout), project controls/tracking, estimating, etc. required
- Commitment to safety for self and others as well as embracing environmentally friendly work practices required
- Proficient with industry standard software products including the MS Office suite, CAD software, SAP, Windows, required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to perform Underground Mine scoping and technical support tasks required
- Familiar with Operational Readiness practices and how to apply them preferred
- Familiar with reliability engineering practices and electrical inspection and testing methods preferred
- Business Improvement, Asset Management, Enterprise Resource Planning experience preferred
- Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives preferred
