POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a leader to support the evolution of our supply management and supplier relationship function. As an innovative and strategic partner, you will help the organization deliver the best total value in line with its strategic priorities, while being a daily ambassador of BDC's procurement values and principles. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President, Procurement, the Manager will lead a team of procurement and supplier relations professionals and oversee a portfolio of strategic contracts. BDC is looking for a passionate and committed individual who will inspire their team by driving change, being open to different points of view, curious and with a strong sense of responsibility.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • You will lead and develop a team of senior procurement professionals who execute procurement strategies and processes, as well as contract management for strategic contracts and suppliers, particularly in the area of information technology and large procurement files
  • With the help of your colleagues from other procurement teams and other BDC teams, you will develop and implement industry procurement best practices to meet operational priorities, cultivate operational excellence, and deliver high-quality delivery of value to BDC's business units
  • You will strengthen and develop key procurement activities to improve the business cycle, including activities such as planning, market intelligence and business case, procurement strategies, contract drafting, and contract performance monitoring
  • You will support the improvement of our responsible sourcing strategy, including our diversity supplier program, and the evolution of procurement opportunities related to BDC's ESG priorities
  • You will be a leader in the evolution of tools related to procurement activities, particularly from the perspective of improving efficiency, standardization, sound risk management and the balance of the supplier-customer-employee experience. You will support team members with their individual development plans and ensure that they excel at what they do
  • You will have effective process control to comply with regulations and policy guidelines applicable to BDC
  • You will be able to build the capacity of BDC's procurement team (financial and human resources) and develop performance indicators to monitor the team's performance
  • You will participate in or lead networking events with industry and other Crown corporations


WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • A highly skilled individual with procurement processes, with strong business acumen and able to identify the best procurement strategies in response to the needs of business units

  • Bachelor's degree in administration, finance or law and more than 10 years of relevant experience in procurement
  • Extensive experience in technology procurement for large-scale, complex files and blended solutions (integrated goods and services/technology solutions) is required, ideally in the public or parapublic sector
  • At least 5 years' experience in personnel management under direct responsibility
  • Good knowledge of the legislative and normative context of public procurement
  • Bilingualism (spoken/written) in French and English
