This Southern California facility located in Paramount, CA is the world's first large-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility. It highlights Air Products commitment to energy transition and supports California's decarbonization by producing renewable aviation fuel.

We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable environmental regulations, implementing environmental assurance programs, auditing the facility, and routine regulatory reporting. Will interface with inspectors from regulatory agencies and third-party environmental service providers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Monitor Refinery compliance, assess field compliance needs, prepare and file certain air compliance reports to SCAQMD and EPA, including but not limited to:
    • SCAQMD above ground storage tank Rules 463, 1149 and 1178
    • SCAQMD VOC monitoring and reporting requirements of Rules 1173 and 1176
    • Use VOC monitoring data for calculating fugitive portion of annual emission reports and for emission projections of permit applications.
    • EPA NESHAP and NSPS monitoring and reporting requirements.
    • Evaluate and interpret air related environmental obligations and advise environmental director of compliance schedules and requirements.
  • Designs and implements company environmental compliance programs and performs regular audits of facility operations that impact environmental compliance.
  • Responsible for compliance oversight and management of hazardous waste, including characterization, profiling, selection and auditing of disposal facilities, and all reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for compliance oversight and permit-required reporting for plant wastewater system.
  • Responsible for compliance oversight and permit-required reporting for stormwater.
  • Develop scopes of work and specifications for environmental contractor work in the facility. May manage these contracts.
  • Escort environmental agency inspectors within the facility.
  • Take rotation for evening and weekend On Call duty.
  • This is a safety sensitive role.


REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • B.S. in related discipline (Environmental/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, etc.).
  • Minimum Five (5) years of full-time environmental compliance work experience in environmental compliance in oil refining, petrochemical production, or other related industry. Preferably within the South Coast Air Quality Management District jurisdiction.
  • This position requires practical knowledge of EPA and SCAQMD air programs, waste, wastewater and stormwater programs.
  • Must possess excellent people skills, the ability to perform compliance work, the ability to make practical decisions, and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.

In California, the expected pay range is $124,250-$180,080, plus Company bonus. This is the pay range that we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
