We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Digital Transformation to join our leadership team at EPE. The Manager of Digital Transformation will play a crucial role in driving digital transformation initiatives for our utility clients, providing them with innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and grid reliability. The responsibilities include strategic planning, technical services, implementation support, and more. This position will be client facing and it will contribute to business development and strategic positioning of Digital Transformation.

For over 50 years, EPE has worked with a variety of client groups including electric utilities, independent system operators (ISOs), utility regulators, project developers, owners, independent power producers, and other grid stakeholders. EPE was instrumental in providing innovative technical siting and interconnection support to wind generation developers in the early 2000's and we now work with utilities, ISO's, renewable generation, and storage developers across the United States. As distributed energy resources, battery storage, and electrification have created new demands and opportunities for reliability and decarbonization, EPE has grown a leading grid modernization practice to help end users and utilities usher these new resources into operation.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Digital Transformation to join our leadership team at EPE. The Manager of Digital Transformation will play a crucial role in driving digital transformation initiatives for our utility clients, providing them with innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and grid reliability. The responsibilities include strategic planning, technical services, implementation support, and more. This position will be client facing and it will contribute to business development and strategic positioning of Digital Transformation.
How you can make an impact:
- Execute and lead projects to drive electric utility digital transformation across four strategic areas: IT/OT and custom integrations, data analytics, GIS, and roadmaps and assessments.
- Lead IT/OT and Custom Integrations:
- Oversee the integration of IT and OT systems to enhance operational efficiency and real-time data exchange.
- Develop and implement custom integration solutions tailored to business requirements.
- Ensure seamless connectivity and interoperability between various platforms and systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure the quality and performance of integrated solutions.
- Spearhead an integration team that will perform system implementation and integration ensuring optimal performance and synergy within our energy infrastructure.
- Familiarity with various platforms, but not limited to, are OSIsoft PI and Wonderware for IT/OT integrations, DERMS, ADMS, OpenDSS for power system simulations, is key.
- Assist in system selection, solution development, data validation, integration/interoperability, and process mapping.
- Drive Data Analytics Initiatives:
- Lead a data analytics team by navigating the intricacies of energy consumption patterns, predictive maintenance algorithms, and grid optimization strategies to ensure efficient operations.
- Develop and implement data analytics strategies to derive actionable business insights.
- Utilize advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to analyze large datasets and inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with business units to identify data needs and deliver insights that support business objectives.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security across all analytics initiatives.
- Experience with Python and R for data analytics is preferred.
- Oversee GIS Projects:
- Lead the development and implementation of GIS projects to support spatial data analysis and visualization.
- Integrate GIS with other business systems to enhance data accessibility and usability.
- Provide technical guidance and support for GIS tools and applications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address GIS needs and opportunities.
- Well-versed in Esri ArcGIS for GIS.
- Plan, develop, and implement databases and applications and provides expertise with GIS modeling, data analysis, and integration of overlays, tables, and maps.
- Develop Roadmaps and Conduct Assessments:
- Create and maintain digital transformation roadmaps for utilities that align with business goals and objectives.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of current utility systems and processes to identify digital transformation opportunities.
- Develop strategic plans and business cases for digital transformation projects.
- Monitor and report on the progress of digital transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall strategy.
- Familiarity with Oracle Analytics, SAS, and SAP for comprehensive roadmap and assessment tools is preferred.
- Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
- Monitor quality and quantity of staff work.
- Delegate and prioritize work assignments.
- Cultivate relationships with utility clients, fostering partnerships, and driving business growth.
- Support proposal development and review of all Digital Transformation pursuits including "go - no-go" decisions, win strategies, proposal staffing, development of pricing, contract terms and conditions, and risk-reviews.
- Implement change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions to digital solutions.
- Support business development activities including evaluating client opportunities, preparing work scopes, responding to requests for proposals, identifying strategic areas of focus, and preparing and conducting presentations.
- Serve as trusted advisor to other leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs for Digital Transformation tools.
- Drive innovation through product enhancements and improvements leading to business efficiencies.
- Develop training programs to ensure staff members stay current with new and updated techniques and methods.
- Mentor team members and develop current and forecasted resource utilization plans, utilizing external and shared resources for unplanned short-term workload expansions. Develop, monitor, and manage financial budgets, including detailed budget tracking and forecasting.
- Perform leadership functions including developing and executing resourcing strategies, personnel hiring, performance management, employee development, and succession planning. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related discipline with a focus in Power Systems (Advanced degree or industry specific certifications is a plus).
- Proven experience in digital transformation projects within the power systems industry, preferably in utility. Prior experience in consulting or advisory roles is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as NERC, FERC, and IEEE, is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with modelling tools like CYME, Synergi, PSS/E, and so on is preferred.
- Prior experience in data analytics, data visualization, and software development for power system applications is a plus.
- Advanced technology integration experience, particularly in the domain of Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems (DERMS) and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) integration is preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms, particularly Esri's ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise. Familiarity with other GIS tools and technologies used in the utility industry.
- Knowledge and hands-on expertise with Esri's Utility Network, including implementation, configuration, and maintenance of GIS solutions tailored to utility operations.
- Knowledge of integrating GIS with other utility systems such as SCADA, AMI, ADMS, and ERP. Understanding of IT/OT convergence and the role of GIS in facilitating seamless data flow and operational efficiency.
- Hands-on experience in driving digital process improvement initiatives within the power systems industry, optimizing workflows, and enhancing operational efficiency.
- Familiarity with digital process mapping, use case development, and change management techniques to drive digital transformation and process improvements in the power systems industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns, and develop data-driven insights.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with clients, understand their requirements, and build strong, lasting relationships.
- Experience in a client facing role and proficient in staff leadership.
- Leadership experience in program or project design and delivery is preferred.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a cross-disciplinary audience, both in writing and in presentation skills.
- Capability to provide training and development for clients in digital solutions and technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse range of professionals, including engineers, analysts, and software developers.
- Proven history managing high performing technical staff.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify new opportunities and growing consulting offerings.
